Winter Warm Up promotion, Each month all of our General Income customers go into a monthly draw to win a $500 rebate off the cost of their insulation. Last year we had a number of happy customers who won this monthly promotion, some of them are pictured below.

This offer is over and above the Warm Up New Zealand subsidy provided by the government.

Scholarship Awards

WISE is very interested in supporting the development of community and assisting  growth through training and education. Wise invests in training staff to be effective and meet their own potential. Recently we have formed a relationship with Waitara High School to provide scholarships for young achievers.

WISE Community Garden

Maara Kai Project

Community Based Garden set up at WISE Better Homes Depot.  Grants received  from Te Puni Kokiri, Land Based Training and WISE Better Homes to establish and run this project.

The following people we would like to acknowledge for their contribution towards this project:

  • Yvette Batton – three articles in the Midweek advising the community about the project
  • John Gordon, RD1 – free consultation regarding irrigation systems
  • John Michielsen, Michielsen’s Tree Nursery – tractor and labour to plough and prepare ground
  • John Michielsen, Michielsen’s Tree Nursery – 10 apple trees
  • Josh Paice – donation of rhubarb plants
  • Gavid and Sue – donation of kumura plants
  • Trevor Dodumski, donation of pumpkin seeds and lacey bark trees.
  • Stepping Stones for their donation of Maple Trees.
  • George Johnson, donation of garlic plants for companion planting plus removal of asian wasps

 

Purpose of the garden is to provide training and qualifications to Land Based Training Students in the process of preparation, propagation, planting, weeding, fertilising and seed extraction.  Qualifications for the students to achieve are in the following areas fencing, chainsaw and horticulture.
